In this consultative role, you will be viewed as an expert by Nutanix sales, customer success teams, business partners, and customers. Your core mission is to bridge the gap between complex business issues and innovative technology opportunities, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
About the Role
Nutanix is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead presales engagement and solution strategy for strategic Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) customers. This role combines deep technical expertise, industry knowledge, executive communication, and commercial acumen to help financial institutions modernize infrastructure, adopt cloud-native operating models, and achieve measurable business outcomes.
As an IC5, you will operate with significant autonomy across complex accounts and large transactions. You will be recognized as a trusted technical advisor by customers and as a senior resource by sales, presales, and leadership teams. You will shape account strategy, lead sophisticated solution engagements, and influence customer decisions through compelling architecture, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a senior technical advisor to strategic BFSI customers, understanding their business priorities and translating them into Nutanix solution strategies.
- Demonstrate the value of Nutanix solutions through executive briefings, technical workshops, architecture sessions, solution demonstrations, and customer discussions.
- Design, size, and configure solutions that address the stringent compliance, security, resilience, availability, performance, and operational requirements of financial institutions.
- Lead complex presales engagements and larger sales transactions from discovery through technical validation, proposal development, proof of concept, and technical close.
- Partner with Account Executives and sales leadership to develop account plans, customer-persona coverage models, opportunity strategies, and differentiated proposals.
- Build long-term relationships with key BFSI stakeholders and establish Nutanix as a trusted and valued technology partner.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the BFSI vertical, connecting technical capabilities to business outcomes such as operational resilience, regulatory readiness, risk reduction, agility, and cost optimization.
- Lead and execute high-quality proofs of concept, ensuring clear success criteria, disciplined execution, stakeholder alignment, and documented business value.
- Collaborate with the wider presales organization, product teams, partners, and professional services to secure technical wins efficiently and professionally.
- Provide technical leadership and deal support to other Systems Engineers on strategic or high-complexity opportunities.
- Contribute to leadership discussions, field strategy, enablement, and best-practice sharing using deep customer and market knowledge.
- Maintain strong awareness of evolving BFSI regulations, cybersecurity expectations, cloud-native technologies, infrastructure trends, and competitive dynamics.
- Represent Nutanix with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and customer commitment.
What You’ll Bring
- 12+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, with significant experience in presales engineering, systems engineering, solution consulting, or enterprise architecture.
- Deep domain expertise in the BFSI industry and a demonstrated track record of engaging and selling to large financial institutions.
- Proven experience leading complex enterprise opportunities, strategic accounts, and large-scale solution transactions.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, hybrid multicloud, data services, security, disaster recovery, business continuity, and application modernization.
- Good working knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including containers, Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, and modern application platforms.
- Hands-on technical aptitude with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing customer, technology, and market requirements.
- Experience developing solution architectures, bills of materials, sizing recommendations, technical proposals, and value-based business cases.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute flawless proofs of concept and technical evaluations.
- Analytical and structured approach to solving complex customer problems, with the ability to articulate the situation, identify business impact, and recommend a clear solution strategy.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with practitioners, architects, technology leaders, and C-level executives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Work Arrangement
Hybrid work model with regular engagement across customer locations, Nutanix offices, and industry events. Extensive travel within India will be required to support strategic customer relationships and business growth initiatives.
